Today, the gift recipient is Parenthood’s flawed, yet irresistible single mom Sarah Braverman, played by one of my favorite actors ever, Lauren Graham.
Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps from Bergdorf Goodman, $725. Since Sarah is always looking to her corporate attorney younger sister Julia (and her closet) for office-appropriate wardrobe assistance, it’s about time that Sarah got a pair of nice shoes of her own. She seemed so sad to part with the red-soled pumps she borrowed for that trade show where she had her first kiss with Gordon (who I like to think of as “Jack Donaghy” light). Her Loubies will have to pull double-duty, so it’s better to stick with the traditional peep-toe style that will work great with an LBD for a date (since she’s back on the market) or on job interviews (as the whole work status is iffy now post-shoe company-sale).
Gilmore Girls: The Complete Series Collection from Amazon, $145.49. Like Lorelei Gilmore, Sarah Braverman is an attractive, charming and quick-witted single mom, but that’s pretty much where the similarity ends. Maybe Sarah and daughter Amber can enjoy some mother-daughter bonding time while watching the complete series of Gilmore Girls—one of the best, if not the best mother-daughter TV series of all time. Of course, Amber is no Rory Gilmore, but I have a feeling that introspective son Drew would really get into this show.
What Color is Your Parachute Workbook: How to Create a Picture of Your Ideal Job or Next Career from Amazon, $9.99. I’m thinking that with all the time spent on her internship, bartending and Gordon-romancing, Sarah probably hasn’t had a chance to finish up her What Color is Your Parachute exercises. (In a blink and you’ll miss it scene, the book was sitting on her nightstand in the episode where there’s a leak in the roof of her guesthouse/bedroom.) This workbook supplement should help her out. Plus, since her internship status is up in the air after Gordon sold the company (that jerko), Sarah needs all the help she can get to get her career goals into order.
Keurig gourmet single cup home-brewing system from Amazon, $142.50. Oh wait, there’s one more Lorelai Gilmore similarity! Sarah loves her some coffee and the coffee-maker in the patriarchal Braverman kitchen is the center of activity. So for those mornings when Sarah is on the outs with her kids (which are kind of a lot) or just needs some alone time, this single-cup system set up in her guest house/bedroom will come in pretty handy.
